About Edson:
Edson AKA Edy came from Brazil in 2003 to teach Capoeira and to learn English. His first encounter with tuina was in 2005 in York at a festival where he was showcasing a Capoeira (Brazilian martial arts) demonstration. At the same festival, Tuina UK was demonstrating and treating people with Chinese massage.
In 2006, Edy dislocated his shoulder and went to the hospital for treatment and was told not to continue with his martial arts. As this would have affected his classes, and remembering the tuina massage previous he went for his first session and very soon he was practicing Capoeira again without discomfort or pain. The tuina had made such a huge difference and improvement to his shoulder, he started to train in the art of tuina.
During the study of tuina with Tuina UK Edy had the opportunity to go to China to work with senior doctors and professors and to deepen his understanding of Chinese medicine.
Edy continues to study tuina under the mentorship of Errol Lynch to further his understanding of the depth of this unique medical system, and to help improve his own innate healing skills.
Edy now also works in the one of the York clinics, The Northern College of Acupuncture, Mondays to Fridays from 10am to 2pm
Areas of Interest:
Edy actively practices and teaches Capoeira in and around York sharing his culture from Brazil. Each year Edy holds a batizado (a form of martial art grading), where he invites his teachers from Brazil and many of the other schools of Capoeira to join in and help grade his students.
