Mark has had a long standing interest in Chinese medicine which first started in his early teens when he started studying Chinese martial and he became exposed to Chinese culture and philosophy. This started him travelling to Asia to study the arts and there he became further exposed to Chinese medicine. When he returned to the UK it was this interest that led Mark to study nursing as mean to further his understanding of medicine and holistic care.
Mark has worked as mental health professional for over ten years in a variety of clinical settings. In 2006 and he attended the Northern College of Acupuncture and completed his first year of study there. At the college he became aware of Tui Na and this caused him to take some time away from his studies to learn this fascinating art. Mark first started learning Tui Na at the Bodyharmonics institute and has continued his studies with Errol. He has found that having a few teachers has given him a wider perspective and knowledge, with which he is able to give a better service to his patients.
Mark has studied martial arts for over 24 years, with teachers all over the world. His Sifu “teacher” is Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit of the Shaolin Wahnam Institute.
Areas of interest
Mark has a strong interest in sports injuries, muscle/skeletal issues and pain management. He also has a passion for the holistic concept of Chinese medicine and hope tos incorporate his mental health background with the Chinese therapies, especially chi kung to work with the client on a holistic level to enable them to facilitate and take an active part in their treatment.
